Compositional Gut Test
When it comes to your body, your gut is at the epicenter of the action. So, it’s no surprise really, when something isn’t quite right in your gut, it can affect many aspects of your physical and mental health. Gut health testing is a great way to get to know your gut better.
The Compositional Gut Test quantifies the total amount of bacteria in the gut as well as the levels of key beneficial bacteria and the most common problematic bacteria.
You will receive your results of how healthy your gut is within a week of posting your sample, along with personalised tips on how to improve your scores.
Gut health testing with the Compositional gut test is ideal for anyone having issues like bloating, IBS, anxiety or lacking motivation to pinpoint the root cause of the issue, if you are struggling to lose weight, or for those without any issues at the moment and would like to keep it that way.
Price includes delivery and prepaid return delivery.
Complete our home gut health testing and find out how health your gut is. If you don’t think the compositional gut test is for you, you can also check out our advanced gut test or our functional gut test to find something more suited to your needs.

What Is Measured?

Why are these biomarkers measured?
The ‘good’ markers are amongst the most well-researched bacteria with numerous health benefits. The ‘bad’ bacteria have been selected as the most common problematic bacteria or because they are present in everyone but at smaller quantities, so if the number of these bacteria is increasing it shows the gut is out of balance and a marker for poor gut health. Total bacteria gives you the big picture of abundance of bacteria in the gut and enables comparisons of good:total and bad:total.
How are the biomarkers measured?
DNA is extracted from a stool sample and measured using qPCR (Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction) the gold standard in DNA quantification.
When to collect a sample?
Collect your stool sample anytime Monday to Sunday, when following your typical diet and lifestyle so that your results are representative to your normal routine. Try to avoid being ‘super healthy’ for a couple of weeks before collecting your sample as this can over-estimate your scores.
When not to collect a sample?
Avoid collecting a sample if you have taken antibiotics in the last 4 weeks, are having a bout of illness or digestive issues such as diarrhoea or the day after a big night on the town. You may continue taking any supplements that you are currently taking.
