Vitamin B12 Test
Our vitamin B12 test kit measures you levels Methylmalonic Acid (MMA) from a urine sample. MMA is the most sensitive marker in detecting deficiencies or low levels.
Vitamin B12 is a common deficiency, which can cause symptoms such as fatigue, headaches and irritability. As these symptoms are non-specific, a deficiency can go undetected for a long time.
This key test gives you an overview of your B12 levels from a simple urine sample which can be done in the comfort of your own home.
What is measured?
This test measures Methylmalonic Acid (MMA) which is known as the most sensitive markers for measuring B12 levels.
Not having enough B12 means that MMA builds up instead of being converted into coenzyme A, making it detectable in your urine sample. B12 is a large essential vitamin that needs help through multiple biological stages to be utilised by the body. Even if you are consuming enough vitamin B12 as part of your diet and a test measuring active B12 or serum B12 show that you have enough vitamin B12 in your body, it is still possible that your body is not using it properly, which could causes symptoms and affecting your quality of life.
