The test is a simple finger prick blood test. All you have to do is collect your sample, activate your kit and send it to our lab for analysis using the prepaid return postage. After a week of posting your sample, you’ll receive your results and your personalised advice on how to improve your vitamin D levels and overall health.

What is Vitamin D?

Vitamin D is essential to the body as it helps absorb calcium, regulate bone growth, maintain your immune system and keep your teeth, muscles and bones healthy.

Current research estimates that one in five people are deficient in vitamin D. During the spring and summer, we should get enough vitamin D as the body creates it from exposure to direct sunlight when outside. However, during the colder months between October and March, getting enough from the sun isn’t easy, particularly in the UK.

Vitamin D can be obtained from some food sources.

D2 sources:

  • Mushrooms
  • Fortified foods (such as some breakfast cereals and fat spreads)
  • Supplements

D3 sources:

  • Oily fish and fish oil
  • Egg yolk
  • Butter
  • Liver
  • Supplements

 Who is the Test For?

Everyone. Low vitamin D levels are prevalent in the UK, and ensuring your levels are within the ‘ideal’ range can bring a host of health benefits. ‘Ideal’ levels of vitamin D will contribute to maintaining teeth, bones, muscles and the immune system. Research also suggests that vitamin d can help reduce inflammation, improve heart health and mental health, aid weight loss, and enhance the gut’s microbial diversity.

Those most at risk of low vitamin D levels are:

  • Vegans/vegetarians
  • People over the age of 50
  • Those with a poor diet
  • Individuals with darker skin
  • Anybody that is sedentary or does not go outside much
  • Those taking medicine or antibiotics
  • Anyone with gut, liver or kidney disease (such as Crohn’s, IBS, ulcerative colitis, celiac)
  • Athletes
